Bandipora, 30 Dec: With the efforts of further strengthening the Army –civilian bond, Army stationed in Aragam village organised a Cricket Super League.
During the ongoing 40-days spell of harsh winter- Chillai Kalan, the inaugural match was played between the local team of Aragam and troops-13 RR. The match commenced with a spell bound performance of Music sensation Babbar Mudassar.
An official said that the friendly match aimed at increasing the Bonhomie between the Army and civilian population and engaging the youth in a productive activity.
Officials said 16 teams will participate in the tournament. On this occasion, Company Commandar of Rashtriya Rifles Aragam camp, SHO Aragam, Principal Higher Secondary Aragam and some senior citizens of Aragam and Bandipora besides a sizable number of spectators were present at the proceedings of the tournament.
One of the local cricketer Feroz Ahmad, said this tournament will help the local youth to showcase their talent. Army’s 13 RR officers said their focus is to make a platform through which the talent of the youth can be explored.
