Bandipora, July 28: Even as the government claims to have implemented several projects to eradicate socio-economic problems, but for Kaloosa village, all such initiatives are missing.
The residents of Kaloosa area of Bandipora town are facing immense hardships especially those living in Ward No 12 and 13 due to the non-availability of basic amenities in the area. The dilapidated condition of inner roads has literally isolated the area from the town.
This village of Bandipora is unfortunately a town that is not only backward as for as development is concerned but it also lags behind on several developmental front. “From drinking Water to road facility everything is absent on ground zero.
Gh Mohammad Rather, a resident of Kaloosa village said the successive governments have neglected this area. “From past many years, the village has only one water pipeline which fetches whole Kaloosa village, Public Health Department failed to provide a separate reservoir to the people of Kaloosa”.
Residents said the government has repaired all the roads in vicinity but left their wards unattended. "Our road is in bad shape from last many decades and since then we have been left out,” they added. “We are without a regular water supply scheme even in 21st century forcing the womenfolk to fetch water from nearby streams”.
The locals said that the water which they are drinking from past several years from nearby nallah is muddy and unsafe. “Our men, women and children quite often fall ill by drinking unsafe and mud-filled water,” said another local. "Every day government claims that they are being provided with pure all basic facilities but We don’t have even drinking water facility,” said Saif ud din, a local resident.
He said the water from the streams is contaminated and local residents, children especially, often suffer from gastro-intestinal problems.
While lashing out at politicians, the residents added that they come to their village only at the time of elections. “First they come, seek votes in the name of providing basic civic facilities but after winning polls, they disappear till next elections. The politicians simply betray poor masses,” the locals lamented.
