Bandipora,24 April:  Students and teachers of Government Middle  School Mangnipora are facing hardships for lack of sufficient space and basic facilities at the school.

Located in the paddy fields of Bandipora district, the school management finds it difficult to accommodate some 60 students in the single storey building.

The new building for school was constructed before three years is yet to inaugurate, the school remains without basic facilities and infrastructure.

According to local residents, absence of basic facilities at the school is forcing a number of students from below poverty Line (BPL) to either discontinue their schooling or to get enrolled in private schools.

“We have requested the authorities several times to enhance the infrastructure of this school and also asked for road to be built here, but so far no step has been taken in this regard.

In the times of stiff competition when others are competing over the quality of education, our kids are still struggling to even get the basic needs fulfilled,” a local resident said.

With 06 teachers the school doesn’t have a staff room and the kitchen functions from a very small room of class 5th and 4th. Only three classrooms 6th,7th and 8th are seperate and rest others are in two rooms.

Residents said the school has high enrolment and teachers cannot manage to take classes in congested classrooms.

Sometimes teachers take classes under the open sky owing to the space constraints in the school, they said.

Chief Education Bandipora Javid Iqbal Wani said that, he has recently joined as CEO in district and i would collect all the details from office staff and would redress the issues immediately, he said.

The residents and students appealed Deputy Commissioner Bandipora to look into the matter on priority basis
