DSEK reviews performance of Education Deptt in Bandipora

 BANDIPORA, APRIL 25:Director School Education Kashmir Mohammad Younuis Malik Thursday reviewed the performance of Education Department in the district.

          The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Malik, Joint Director Planning Imitiyaz Ahmad, Chief Education Officer Bandipora Javid Iqbal, ZEOs of various zones and other senior officers of the district.

          On the occasion Director Education took a detailed review of the education scenario of the district and directed the officials to expedite the ongoing works to provide adequate infrastriucture in schools and also asked them to flag the short comings so that the same can be rectified at earliest.

He impressed upon the officers to make teaching-learning process more student-centric and directed them to adopt interactive and activity-based learning so as to make the process more interesting for the students to ensure maximum participation. He also stressed on capcity building of teachers with an aim to improve results and urged the teachers to hold regular interactions with the parents of the students besides holding various extra-curricular activities in the schools for the over all development of the children.

          The Director School Education reviewed the implementation of various state and centrally sponsored schemes including Midday Meals, providing school uniforms, Text Books, besides registration of coaching centres and development of infrastructure. Director urged the officers to work in close coordination with the district administration and the concerned departments to ensure the schemes are implemented in letter and spirit.

          On the occasion Chief Education Officer gave a brief presentation about the performance of the department. The meeting was informed that there are 389 Primary Schools, 329 Upper Primary Schools, 4 KGBVs, 49 High Schools, 26 Higher Secondary Schools and six Degree Colleges in the district. It was given out that total roll of the Government Schools upto Higher Secondary level is 49354 while 22581 students are enrolled in private schools.

          Officials informed that the district is an active participant of initiative of Super-50 coaching for NEET and JEE started by the Department of Education. CEO Bandipora said 15 students from the Super-50 lot got selected for NEET and JEE in the academic year 2017-18.

          On the occasion the CEO  Bandipora also flagged some of the issues that hinder the  department from performing better and sought intervention  to remove the bottlenecks that including filling of vacancies. The director assured every possible help to ensure smooth functioning of the department in the district
