Pulwama, Mar 13, CNS: Unidentified gunmen shot dead a young army man outside his home at Naik Mohalla Pinglena area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The 25 year old victim, who was affiliated with 25 Battalion Jammu Kashmir Light Infantry was on a visit to his family.
The victim Ashiq Ahmed son of Muhammd Yousuf Naik had arrived in his native village on Tuesday. Reports said that gunmen pumped at least 4 bullets in his head when he was present outside his home. Family rushed him to hospital but he succumbed to his injuries on way.
Ashiq as per his family was an SPO but later had joined JKLI. He had quit the job last year.
Interestingly, the area was under cordon till morning hours as government forces had inputs about the presence of militants.
The native place of the victim had witnessed a fierce gun fight on February 18 in which four soldiers, three militants, a cop and and a civilian were killed. Brigadier, Lieutenant Colonel, Major, Captain and DIG South Kashmir Range Amit Kumare were among the injured.
