ADC Bandipora inaugurates Indoor games tourney under SVEEP

Aims to create awareness among future voters, first time voters about electoral process

 

Bandipora, March 13: The District Election Office Bandipora on Wednesday organized an indoor games tournament at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium Bandipora with an aim to create awareness about election, voter registration and motivate the future voters and first-time voters to participate in the democratic process.

          The tournament was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir while Nodal Officer SVEEP, Rafiq Ahmad Parray was also present on the occasion. The tournament ios being organized in collaboration with District Youth Services and Sports

          Dozens of students from different schools are participating in different indoor games during the tournament that will last for three days.

Officials said the aim of the program is to create awareness regarding the voter registration thus motivating the younger generation to get enrolled in the voters list besides motivating the first time voters to participate in the democratic vote by casting their votes.  The future voters were also given information with regard to the electoral process so that they participate in the election when they attain the age of 18 years.

          During the event the officials also organized a training program about EVM-VVPAT machines at SK Stadium and Government Degree College Bandipora wherein Master trainers imparted training to participants about handling of EVM-VVPAT machines. Participants in the programme included students, teaching and non-teaching staff, besides members of the media, NGOs and civil societies.

          Speaking on the occasion the ADC Bandipora stressed on the students and sports persons to enroll themselves in the electoral rolls and those who have already enrolled shall cast their votes to decide their future.

          He also urged them to get acquaintance with handling and operation among other aspects of the machines and also appealed for passing the message to the general public so as to ensure maximum voter turnout in the upcoming general elections.

Concerned nodal officer threw light on the SVEEP programme during the awareness programme. The participants were urged to spread the word about toll-free helpline number and website www.nvsp.in where information can be asked for.

Later a van was also flagged off that traveled in various markets and residential areas to create awareness about the electoral process.
