Grandson of sufi saint Nanga Baji joins congress in Bandipora

Bandipora, March 07: A prominent social worker and grand son of Sufi saint Nanga Baji,  Syed Shafaat Kazmi on Thursday joined Indian National  Congress along with dozens of his supporters. 

Kazmi formally joined the party during a convention held at Malangam under the chairmanship of  General Secretary JKPCC and former MLA Bandipora Usman Majid. After joining Congress party, Syed Shafaat Kazmi said that some elements are trying to dominate Gujjar community and exploit them for their politic gains.  He said  the areas dominated by Gujjar community especially  Malangam and adjoining areas have been neglected for decades. He said that majority of promises made by both BJP-PDP before polls have fallen flat.

            Later in his speech MLA Bandipora Usman Majid described the previous PDP-BJP coalition as anti-poor and anti development, saying due to administrative inertia and lack of political direction the sufferings of the people  increased manifold during past three years.

              “The insensitive coalition government  pushed people to the wall, as unemployment  increased, prices risen and developmental activities suffered a huge dent”, he said.
