Disaster Preparedness: Bandipora admin approves comprehensive plan to provide protective gears, safety equipment to field staff
Stresses for prompt response to ensure uninterrupted essential services
BANDIPORA, JANUARY 10: District Administration, Bandipora has approved a comprehensive plan for provision of safety equipment, protective gears, clothing, Gloves, Shoes, Raincoats, Protective jackets, Helmets, and essential items to 1210 field employees of several departments at an estimated cost of Rs 60 Lakh aimed at safety of officials during disaster management. It also approved cash reward for outstanding field officials.
District Development Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary while reviewing the performance of departments and preparedness of departments for disaster management and approved plan for provision of safety equipment and protective dressing for field staff of Power, PWD, PHE, Mechanical Engineering, Municipal Committees, Police, Revenue, PMGSY, Health and Fire & Emergency Services Departments for better response to natural calamities and ensuring uninterrupted public services.
As a part of Capacity Building of departments for disaster management and effective public response financial support to the tune of Rs 60 Lakh has been provided for 150 employees of Power Department, 210 of PWD, 559 of PHE, 39 of MED, 60 of Health, 5 of PMGSY, 80 of Revenue apart from strengthening of field offices of Engineering Departments, Police and Revenue. It also includes strengthening of 24#7 control rooms for effective response and public grievance redressal.
The DDC also directed for community disaster management response system to be operated at the level of sub-divisional officers for pooling local resources to provide immediate relief. The meeting also approved provision of 4X4 vehicles to be kept at disposal of health department for ferrying patients free of costs in wake any natural calamity like snowfall and attending to emergencies. Meanwhile, 52 ambulances are being equipped for movement during snowfall.
In view of weather advisory the DC directed for ensuring that snow clearance machines are positioned at all critical spots and that these are pressed into service as soon as snow starts to accumulate. He stressed on prioritizing snow-clearance from roads leading to all important installations across the district. The R&B was asked to work in close coordination with the other line departments.
He directed all the concerned departments to be in a state of preparedness and responsive to any crisis thrown up anywhere in the district. The meeting was informed that all the departments have established control rooms for the general public to report their concerns.
Superintendent of Police Sheikh Zulfikar Azad, ADC Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Reyaz Ahmad Beigh, Joint Director Planning Abdul Majeed Karnai, Chief Medical Officer Dr Mir Bilkees, Chief Education Officer Munshi Javeed Iqbal and senior officers from MED, R&B, Municipal Committee Bandipora, Hajin, PDD, I&FC and PHE attended the meeting.
