Bandipora, 03 Dec: Traders Federation and Transporters of Bandipora on Monday staged a protest demonstration against the district administration and power development department for its failure to provide electricity as per schedule.
The federation members accompanied by the members of transport association who assembled in Nowpora Chowk raised slogans against the Power Development Department and the local administration.
They said the prolonged and unscheduled power cuts by the department in the area have been a routine for past three months. The aggrieved PDD consumers said that despite their repeated pleas, the department has failed to improve the power supply.
They said the continued power outages have badly affected their business. Besides, the students have also been affected as they could not concentrate on their studies in absence of the power, president Traders' Federation Shamshad Kuchay said.
The locals said that they have several times raised the issue with the authorities but to no avail.
The locals and the traders said that they are paying power tariff every month without fail, yet the department is showing least concern in addressing their problems. They threatened full-fledged agitation in case the administration failed to restore the regular power supply.
