Govt ‘agrees’ to construct Nussu-Kaloosa Bypass in Bandipora

Bandipora, November 24: The much awaited Nussu- Kaloosa Bypass project will soon see the light of day as the government has agreed in principle to construct the 2.75-kilometer Bye-pass road in the town.

          The construction of Bye-pass for Bandipora town was one of the major demands of the Bandiporians to provide an alternative road to bypass the thickly populated town and overcrowded main market.

           Executive Engineer R&B Division Bandipora, Abdul Aziz Bhat said after examining it was found that it is feasible to connect Ajas Bandipora road at Nussu directly with Kaloosa near bridge through open paddy lands of the town.

          The length of the proposed road will be 2.75 kilometers linear length having a double lane status and the right of way will be fifty feet. He said the department has prepared the DPR and has also identified it on the Google map. He said the identified land is being notified and will be demarcated so that further action is taken for the implementation of the project.

          Bandipora town witness huge traffic jams owing to owing to congestion and from past several years, people demanded to construct a bypass in the town to provide an alternative route.

          The locals have demanded to update the master plan of the town so that the master plan prepared in late ’60s should be extended to the town with growing population. They said the master plan for the town was prepared in the late 60’s with 90-degree roads and proper sanitation.

          Locals alleged that during the past two decades people violated the master plan and encroached the land thus having poor sanitation and narrow lanes. They said all the violations were made in connivance of the Municipal authorities of the town. Locals urged the Governor administration to probe the violations and get the master plan updated so that the existing plan can be implemented for extension of the town.
