Usman Majid expresses concern over damage to orchards due to heavy snowfall; Seeks Compensation 

Bandipora, Nov 05: Senior Congress Leader and MLA Bandipora Usman Majid here on today seeks comprehensive compensation for farmers and orchardists who suffered extensive damages due to early snowfall, urged the government to go for immediate assessment of damages to horticulture sector.

Majid said that scores of villages in his constituency have suffered losses due to Snowfall and the administration must come to their rescue. He has impressed upon the governor’s administration to assess the losses caused to apple trees due to the heavy snow, which resulted in breaking down of trees.

He has urged the Governor Satpal Malik and district administration to provide ex-gratia relief to the affected farmers and fruit traders immediately till their losses are assessed by the joint teams of horticulture, agriculture and revenue officers for loss compensation.

Expressing solidarity with the farmers, Majid said he will knock every door to seek justice for them in terms of compensation.
