SEP 07 (PTK): In reaction to the removal of Shesh Paul Vaid as Director General of Police, former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Fridaysaid that there was no hurry to remove him.
Vaid, a 1986 batch IPS, was removed as the DGP and posted as Transport Commissioner by the government.
While referring to the temporary appointment of Dilbag Singh as the DGP, Abdullah added that changing the DGP is the prerogative of the administration but “why a DG as a temporary arrangement?”
“The current DG won’t know if he’s going to stay and others who would like his job will be trying to replace him. None of this is good for Jammu and Kashmir police,” he wrote on his twitter.
In his next tweet, Abdullah wrote that there was no hurry to replace Vaid. “He should have been changed only when a permanent arrangement had been worked out. @JmuKmrPolice has enough problems without having to deal with confusion of leadership,” he added.
