IGP traffic Basant Rath pays surprise visit to Bandipora

Bandipora, 29 April: IGP Traffic Basant Rath on Sunday paid a surprise visit to Bandipora of north Kashmir’s district.

Rath, who is on his mission to overhaul traffic mess in the state, decongested the roads which were used to create hurdles in the smooth flow of traffic. People of Bandipora welcomed Basant Rath as it was the first visit of any top traffic police official to the town.

People from many areas of Bandipora were seen with mobile phone in their hands, making selfies and some were seen updating the same on social networking sites.
“Finally Basant Rath is in the town to overhaul the traffic mess and put end to the road encroachment menace by local shopkeepers and vendors,” reads a post on Facebook of Yawar Khan.
Rath started the tour by foot from the main chowk to the district hospital and walked back again to the Bandipora police station covering the major portion of the town which includes main market, Auto Stand, Gulshan Chowk, Fish Market and Nowpora chowk.
The journey by foot altogether was around two kilometers which took around one hour and during which Rath monitored the chaotic traffic situation in the town created by the traffic violators.

While Basant Rath was in the town to monitor the situation, all of a sudden the roads seemed clear and the local vendors were seen moving their carts away from the roads. Rath’s effect was clearly visible in the town.
“IGP traffic Basant Rath paid a visit to monitor the situation in the town. 

One police officer said that his mission is to ensure a smooth traffic system in the town.

Rath was accompanied by SSP Bandipora Zulfikar Azad, Dysp Hqrs Bandipora Murtaza Hussain, SHO Bandipora Syed Gazanfur besides other police officials of Bandipora police including other traffic officials of the town.
