Bikers launch anti-Polythene drive in Wullar, Zaina’lank

Banyari(Bandipora) March 26: To create awareness among the masses about the hazards of using polythene, the ‘Legend Riders’ group in Bandipora organised a ride to Wular lake and enroute launched  an anti-polythene campaign under "Go Green Bandipora" banner.

          On the occasion the local commuters were enlightened about the various hazards of polythene. Negative impact of using polythene (non-biodegradable) on soil, water and air was instilled among the people and local shopkeepers. Besides awareness, people carrying polythene bags, were given free jute bags to replace polythene bags.

          The event was supported by a local businessman. Legend Riders starts its drive from Zainalank-an island in Wular built by King Zain ul Abideen Budshah, in 14th-century.During winters the lake dries upto the ‘island’ and hence assessable.
