Bandipora, March 15: The department of fisheries, today organised a district level training programme for fish farmers under Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) at Sumbal, Bandipora.
The programme was aimed at to provide technical know how to the farmers and to sensitive them about fish farming and other integrated agricultural activities.
The programme was chaired by Assistant Director Fisheries, Bandipora Sajjad Hussain while as technical expert team headed by Dy Director ATMA, Manzoor Ahmad, officers from the administration, besides a large number of farmers were also present.
The experts on the occasion delivered lectures in which the participants were imparted necessary training regarding fish farming, animal and sheep Husbandry.
The Assistant Director Fisheries on the occasion said that the department puts all efforts to take the fisheries sector to its new heights. He said various new and innovative schemes have been launched in the district which are showing better results on gross root level. The AD informed that Rs 23 lakhs have been expanded on different welfare schemes during the current financial year.He appealed youth to avail the benefits of various schemes , adding that there is a tremendous scope for fish rearing in the district, owing to availability of natural water resources.
Later, a question answer session was held in which the queries put up by the farmers were answered by the experts.
