British Kashmiri Diaspora stages protest, Pitches for release of Shabir Shah

London, Mar 15, CNS: British Kashmiri Diaspora staged a protest in British capital London urging upon international community to impress upon Government of India to release ailing Kashmiri pro-freedom leader Shabir Ahmed Shah.

Reports said that British Kashmiri Diaspora holding banners and placards staged a silent protest in London. One of the banners read: “British Kashmiri Diaspora appeal to Her Majesty and Commonwealth for redeeming right to self determination to Kashmir as per UN Resolutions.

Most of the banners were carrying photographs of Kashmri pro-freedom leader Shabir Ahmed Shah who according to protesters is languishing in India’s Tihar Jail.

British Kashmiri Diaspora demanded that Shabir Ahmed Shah needs immediate medical attention in Indian jail.

At the end of the protest demonstration, the solicitor of the Kashmiri Diaspora in Britain, Irshad Malik told media that “Common Wealth member countries, especially Britain has the moral responsibility to find a solution to the long pending Kashmir dispute.” He informed that youths are being killed on daily basis in Kashmir and Kashmiri pro-freedom leaders as well as common people are being jailed every now and then.

While expressing concern over the continuous incarceration of JKDFP chief Shabir Ahmad Shah, Irshad Malik told media that two decades back the human rights watch dog, Amnesty International termed Shabir Shah as “Prisoner of Conscience” and unfortunately the same “Prisoner of Conscience” is going to complete his 31 years in jails. Shabir Shah’s continuous incarceration is political vendetta as he is being targeted only for advocating for peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute. “Shabir Shah has been jailed in the infamous Tihar jail, Delhi after a fabricated case was registered against him last year,” Irshad Malik told media in Britain.

He impressed upon the justice and freedom loving people to break their silence on the continuous incarceration of Shabir Shah.(CNS)
