Jammu, Nov 27: The Block Development Officer Kathua Om Dutt Atrri has been put under suspension on charges of committing financial irregularities relating to MGNREGA works in his block.
Following complaints against the BDO, Minister for Rural Development Abdul Haq Khan directed the Director Rural Development Jammu RK Bhatt to visit the spot to assess the situation. It was found that the said BDO had purchased a huge quantity of tiles during the last and current financial year under MGNREGA and instead of utilizing the same, have dumped the tiles at different spots in Panchayat Badala.
Director Jammu ordered the suspension of the BDO pending enquiry and appointed ACD Jammu ML Tasir as an enquiry officer to inquire into the irregularities. He has been asked to submit the enquiry report within 15 days. Meanwhile In-charge BDO Barhati Block has been given the additional charge of Block Kathua till suitable arrangement is made.
