Recalling services of late Khawaja Sona ullah, Geelani in a statement issued to KNS said he was father of journalism and he had several chances to meet him at his residence, where he was living in complete isolation.
Geelani said that after his release from Jodhpur jail, he couldn’t meet late Khawaja because of his busy schedule and on the sudden demise of my daughter late Khawaja Sanaullah visited my residence. “It was our last meeting and since then we couldn’t get any chance to meet in person,” said Geelani.
Geelani while hailing his services towards society, said that his style and political approach was unique and distinct and he was very sympathetic and friendly towards oppressed people in state.
He said that late Khawaja had a commanding knowledge of his profession and highlighted the plight of suppressed and subjugated nation in a unique and apt style and when nation revolted against the state of oppression, couldn’t match the standards and aspirations, visualized by late Khawaja.
Haling services rendered by late Sufi Gh Mohammad, Geelani said that he was very affectionate and close to me and he will be remembered for pleading the case of suppressed nation, saying that he played a great and impressive role to highlight the sufferings of distressed people in state.
Meanwhile, Geelani expressed his deep grief over the demise of prominent journalist and politician, Om Saraf and extended his condolences with the grieved family. “Since my stay in Mujahid Manzil, we were good friends,” said Geelani and “it was my routine to meet him whenever I visited to Jammu.”
“During election campaign in 1972, he remained always with me, leaving good impact on society,” said Geelani.
He said that last time when “I was in Jammu, he invited me on a marriage ceremony, but I couldn’t attend the occasion as it was resented from Hindu extremists and late Saraf regretted over the incident.”
“We share this grief,” said Geelani, while extending his condolence and sympathy with the grieved family.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat (G) strongly condemned the forces for their ‘brute behavior’ and expressed deep grief and concern over indiscriminate pellet firing and seriously injuring a 11th class student, Zahid Manzoor.
“It is beastly act,” said Hurriyat and strongly criticized peace envoys and said that while sermonizing peace they forget that it is occupied forces, responsible for uncertain situations, unabated killings and disturbances in state.
Lashing at state police, Hurriyat (G) said that they for mean and meager material gains, surpass all limits and even trample all basic and fundamental norms. (KNS)
