Demands blanket ban of liquor sale in Valley
Srinagar, Nov 4 (KNS): Demanding a blanket ban on sale of liquor, Civil Society Coordination Committee (We the People) said that he proposal of Airport Authority of India top open liquor shop was condemnable.
“Liquor consumption in the valley is on rise,” it claimed. “We demand blanket ban on sale of liquor in the Kashmir valley,” it said while addressing a press conference here.
Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam Deputy Grand Mufti, Ahmad Ayaz, MPL Board and other civil society members including Mir Javaid, Dr Muhammad Ashraf, Manzoor Ahmad Kirmani, Muhammad Yasin Kirmani, Muhammad Noorani Naqshbandi, G A Qureshi were present during the press conference.
The society as per the KNS correspondent said that corruption and nepotism has crossed its limits and “now the ministers are appointing their blue-eyed persons at top jobs without any merit and qualification. And the government is a mute spectator.”
It said that the appointment of interlocutor is an “eyewash and an attempt to befool the people of the state”.
The society held the press conference in collaboration with the office of Grand Mufti of JK and State Muslim Personal Law Board.
On adjournment of hearing of Article 35 A petition by Supreme Court, the society said that “it is strange that the GoI appointing interlocutor on the one hand and on the other hand Article 35 A being the constitutional arrangement has co-related with each other.”
The society said that the people of JK have bitter experience with past interlocutors and the GoI instead of taking action on the reports have thrown these reports into dustbins. (KNS)
