Golf packages to be launched for to promote golf tourism: Sarmad Hafeez

Srinagar, Nov 1: 

In order to promote state as a complete golfing circuit, the department of tourism is launching golf packages to woo golfers from across India and other countries.

To further improve the experience of the golfers, professional training will be imparted to caddies for maintaining professionalism and discipline within the course besides the courses will be properly maintained and cleaned on regular intervals.

In this regard, Secretary Tourism Sarmad Hafeez (IAS) Wednesday chaired a meeting at Royal Springs Golf Course to take a review of the functioning of golf courses especially RSGC.

Various issues were discussed regarding the functioning and other maintenance operations of RSGC.

Managing Director J&K Golf Development and Management Authority (GDMA) Ghalib Mohiuddin Shah gave a detailed power-point presentation regarding the status and ongoing developmental works at RSGC.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Tourism directed that the functioning of RSGC should be further improved so that the golfers will have a good experience at the course.

He further desired that the cleanliness drive be carried out at the course on regular basis.

Secretary Tourism also assured all the support to the golf association in organising golf tournament and attracting golfers to the state.

 “We have world class golf courses which can attract golfers from across the world. If we tap golf tourism, we are attracting high-spending tourists,” said Secretary Tourism.

He said the department would maintain highest standard of these golf courses so that golfers coming from across the world can have better experience.

The meeting was also attended by Assistant Accounts Officer, Turf Manager and Executive Supervisors along with other officials of Royal Springs Golf Course.  After the meeting Secretary Tourism interacted with some senior members and various other delegations of RSGC.
