Defunct streets lights remains unattended in Kupwara Town


KUPWARA, 01 NOV (PTK): Despite the claims of installing streetlights in the Kupwara town by the authorities, the maximum number of streets lights remains unattended.  
 
Residents alleged that under the very nose of authorities many lights are lying defunct in the area. They said that they have brought the issue of defunct street lights into the notice of Kupwara Municipal committee (KMC), but nothing at the avail.

The told PTK despite the representation to the KMC, the lights have not been replaced “These streetlight in the town are not working for the past many months. Nobody from the KMC has visited the area to replace these”, Mohd Majid, a local resident.
 
He adds that in the absence of streetlights residents are not able to go to Mosque in evening hours or morning. The residents have appealed KMC officials to replace these defunct street lights from all over the market and other streets
