All bailey bridges to be replaced by modern bridges: CE Himank
Leh, Oct 29 (KNS): Continuing its development spree in strategic Ladakh region, Project Himank of Border Roads Organisation Sundaydedicated another bridge to the people of the cold desert, the third such bridge in a month, for efficient connectivity to China border.
Chief Engineer Project Himank, Brigadier DM Purvimath, inaugurated the 30-meter long heavy bridge over Linche River on Leh-Loma road in Leh.
While appreciating the engineers and workers of the Organization , he said that Project Himank will accomplish development of Leh by providing modern bridges and roads to enhance connectivity.
The CE emphasized the need to expedite completion of all bridges falling on all the strategically important road communications on Indo-China axis.
He said that this bridge on the Leh-Loma road will enhance travel of locals as well as army in this strategic region. He said such connectivity shall enhance travel and communication for strategic transport and tourism development.
The road is the main connectivity to various link roads along the Line of Actual Control and is being developed to NHDL specification owing to its strategic and operational importance as it is closet route to China border
The bridge on the road is second of the series which was completed and inaugurated by Border Roads in the month of October, improving connectivity to and along strategic Indo-China border in the region.
Expressing gratitude to BRO, Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Dorjay Mutup, Chairman Lickhe village, Nawang Rigzin and Lambardar Lickhe village Tundup Lorboo said that such projects will boost development and connectivity in the region.
They said that more than 100 vehicles pass on the bridge daily which otherwise was difficult on the earlier temporary Bailey bridges.
The CE said that all Bailey bridges are being replaced by modern heavy permanent bridges in the sector of project Himank. (KNS)
