Dozens of families rendered homeless
Srinagar, Oct 21 (KNS): The massive blaze that engulfed in Kilshey village of Gurez area of north Kashmir's Bandipora district converted nearly half of the village into ashes after almost 68 structures were caught in fire in the wee hours of Saturday morning.
From school to the Masjid including residential houses as well as the cowsheds were converted into the ashes today after the structures were caught in a devastating fire in the village.
The reasons behind the fire incident is being ascertained, officials informed KNS.
The blaze as per the officials gutted sixty-eight structures including 35 residential houses, 10 non residential houses, 10 cowsheds, one Masjid, Government School and ICDS Office building.
The massive fire has rendered dozens of families homeless.
“Fire broke out in the wee hours today from a residential house in the village. Within no time, the fire engulfed whole Kilshey village,” officials said, adding that the intensity of the blaze was such that it gutted 68 structures in a short span.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Sajad Hussain said that the fire was brought under control and no injury or loss of life was reported during the incident.
He said that the fire tenders from district Headquarter rushed to the spot immediately to douse off the fire in the wee hours.
Hussain informed KNS that the reason of fire is being ascertained while the administration has reached the spot in early morning today. (KNS)
