Anantnag, Oct 17, CNS: A family from Verinag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district who lost their family head in an army raid last year Tuesday alleged that police have closed the case without conducting any investigation.
The victim family from Halmullah Gawas in Kapran Verinag in South Kashmir that arrived here in Press Enclave Srinagar said that their 55 year old family head Abdul Gani Naik lost his life during a nocturnal raid conducted by Army’s 119 Rashtriya Rifles while the probe that authorities had assured was never conducted.
Zainab Begum, the wife of the deceaed told CNS that Army raided two house of Abdul Gani Naik and Bashir Ahmad Thoker in April 2016. “The army raid on our house scared Naik and he suffered heart attack. We after informing the police shifted him to nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead,” she said.
As the word about his death spread in the area, agitated people hit to road and clashed with police. “The authorities assured probe and even officials at Police Station Dooru Shahabad promised us that an FIR will be lodged after the completion of inquiry. We were shocked yesterday, when the police officer informed us that the case has been closed,” she said.
“We moved from pillar to post but justice has been deluding us. We request and appeal authorities to conduct a probe into the incident and bring guilty to justice,” the family members told CNS.
