Locals blame MLA, DC Bandipora for ignoring the vital link of Town

Bandipora, October 02: The residents of Bagh Bandipora are all set to block Rahimya road in protest against the government for failing to macadamize the vital road while all other inner links were macadamized or repaired this year.
Residents of Bagh Bandipora said this year all the link roads of the town including inner lanes were macadamized or repaired while only half a Kilomtre long Rahimya road connecting main market with the Bagh Byepas road was left untouched despite being in dilapidated condition.
Locals said they feel cheated as the MLA Bandipora Usman Majeed assured them that the road will be repaired but we kept waiting until all roads were macadamized except Rahimya road. They said MLA Bandipora cheated the residents despite receiving majority of the votes from Bagh Bandipora.
They said the road acts as an important link as most of the time, traffic is diverted through Rahimya road owing to traffic jams or Dharnas on main road. They said the road also connects with District Hospital and two Schools but government seems to be least bothered about the condition of road.
Residents said they requested DC Bandipora for repairmen of the road but except assurances they received nothing forcing them to block the road for the traffic from next week. “We have stopped opening windows of our houses as dust covers whole area when a vehicle plies on the road,” said a resident.
They said till the road is repaired they won’t allow any vehicle to move on the road from October 9 (Monday). “Even ambulances of district hospital use this road, but we will block road for all vehicles as the responsibility will be lying on the district administration and MLA Bandipora who cheated the residents,” they added.
DC Bandipora Sajjad Hussain Ganai acknowledged that the road is dilapidated condition and could not be covered during this financial year and said that next year the road will be macadamized on priority
