”Occupational forces” already given a free hand to unleash atrocities in J&K: Shah

‘India’s jingoistic media a blot on face of journalism’

Srinagar, May 26 (KNS): Strongly condemning the statement of India’s defence minister Arun Jaitley that army is free to take decision in a “war-like zone”, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Friday said the occupational forces have already been given a free hand to unleash atrocities on the people of the occupied territory.
He also reacted strongly against Jaitley’s remarks that there would be not talks with resistance leadership of Jammu Kashmir and said “we neither begged for talks before Delhi nor are we in favour of bilateral dialogue”.
“The people of Jammu Kashmir are continuing their struggle for right to self-determination and demand the resolution of the issue through tripartite dialogue or implementation of UN resolutions,” he said in a statement to KNS.
Shah said India has always tried to suppress the issue through military might but the people of Jammu Kashmir never surrendered before New Delhi’s oppressive measures.
The DFP chairman suggested India to bow before the truth and accept the reality of Kashmir and said by doing so, New Delhi won’t be doing any favour to Kashmiris but can take eradicate the poverty across the country.
Shah urged the international community to take serious notice of the awarding of Indian army major Leetul Gogoi for using human shield and said this is not the first time that India has honoured its army officers involved in such incidents.
He also criticised the biased role played by some elements in Indian media. “It seems this media has taken charge of India’s affairs and are resorting to blatant lies. The role played by this jingoistic media is a blot on the face of journalism,” he said.
Meanwhile, a DFP spokesperson has condemned the authorities’ action of once again placing the party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah under house detention. He said for the Shah has been under house arrest except for just few days.
