DRSC asks RDD to complete ongoing projects in time

SRINAGAR, MAY 25: A meeting of Department Related Standing Committee (DRSC-II) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council was held under the Chairmanship of MLC, Ramesh Arora here today to review the functioning of Rural Development Department here today.

Legislators, Ajat Shatru Singh, Showkat Hussain Ganai, Mohammad Khursheed Alam and Firdous Ahmed Tak attended the meeting and gave their valuable suggestions to make the department feasible and result oriented.

Discussing the working of the Department, the Committee stressed on the concerned authorities of the Rural Development Department to implement the schemes including MGNREGA, IAY, PMAY and other centrally sponsored schemes in the state in letter and spirit.

The Committee stressed on the officers of Rural Development Department to complete all ongoing projects being executed by the department  in shortest possible time so that the department which are linked with people could be benefited.

It also sought detailed report on some agenda points of the meeting from the department and decided to submit it to the Council Secretariat as early as possible.

The Committee also sought detail report list of officers/officials who are overstaying in the various wings of the department in violation of transfer policy. 

The Committee member, Firdous Ahmed Tak said that the rural population is becoming partner in the development process and real and sustainable assets are being created on the ground.

While appreciating the department, he complimented the government for enhancing wages of MGNREGA employees.

The Committee stressed upon the concerned authorities to streamline the transfer policy of the department and hold the DPC of the Department as early as possible to avoid stagnation.

The Committee also directed the Director, Rural Development, Kashmir to visit the Baramulla with its team to assess the situation due to the land sliding..

The Committee also informed that the Anganwadi Centres have been provisioned under Focus Area Plan during 2016-17 by dovetailing of MGNREGA scheme with Social Welfare Department as per reports from a few ACDs that the funds from social welfare department have not been provided with the result the process for construction of these Anganwadi centres has been affected. However, efforts are on for persuading the line department for providing of allocation so that the targets are being achieved well in time.

Commissioner Secretary, RDD Nirmal Sharma, Director RDD, Jammu R K Bhat, Director, Rural Sanitation M M Rehman, Additional Secretary, K K Sidha, ADCs from different district, besides Special Secretary Legislative Council, Mohammad Ashraf Wani and senior Officers and officials of concerned RDD and Council Secretariat were also present on the occasion.
