Bandipora, March 09: The militant has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Sheer Gojri Son of Sher Dil Gojri Resident of Palpura Malangam Tehsil Aloosa and District Bandipora.
He was killed and an army major was wounded in a brief shootout in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday evening, police said.
An official said that police and army laid a naka outside police station Bandipora following specific inputs of travelling of militant in local cab.
“During the checking, a militant travelling in a vehicle opened fire in which an army major of 14 RR was injured. The militant was killed in retaliatory fire,” he said.
