Transfer Policy: Education Minister asks teachers to join their new places of posting

‘Let them not forget that students are suffering’

Srinagar Mar 6 ::While the teachers continue to approach the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) for the modification of their transfer orders, Education Minister, Syed Altaf Bukhari on Sunday said the teachers should join their new place of postings as it won’t make them ineligible to redressal of their grievance.
“Only 10 percent of teachers have grievances and we are addressing it. If someone has been relieved let them join their new place of posting. It won’t make them ineligible to redressal of their grievance,” Bukhari said.

He said the Department would entertain the grievance of the teachers even after their joining at new places. “If the representation is genuine we will bring the teacher back,” he said.

The Minister said the teachers also have to keep in mind that education of child is primary focus for the Department. “We also acknowledge that to achieve the target, comfort level of teacher is also important. Let them (teachers) not forget that students have suffered a lot,” he said.

Stating that approaching DSEK wont address the grievances, the education minister said redressal of the grievances won’t be done overnight. “Visiting the DSEK office won’t address their problem. Let them leave application and if they have been relieved let them join their new places. It will take two weeks time to rectify the error,” the Education Minister said.

He said it was first time in the Department that an exercise was conducted, “for which mistakes were bound to happen.” “But I assure that next year, Human Resource Management (HRM) would be better,” Bukhari said.

The Minister said the teachers can continue at their present places if their reliever has not come but, “If their representation is not genuine he/she has to shift to new place of posting.”

Bukhari also praised the former education minister Naeem Akhtar saying it was a landmark achievement by latter who got created a data base of 2.50 lakh employees. “It is a landmark thing done by Naeem sahib who got created a data base of 2.5 lakh employees,” he said.

Meanwhile officials in the Department said around 300 applications were received by Directorate for modification of their orders while as 450 were received through Public representative and 200 teachers approached directly to the education minister.
