Govt order regarding test based promotion ‘discriminatory’: JKTReTT

‘Qualifying ability test must be mandatory to teachers for promotion’

Srinagar, Feb 28 (KNS): Terming the recent order issued by the government regarding the test based promotion in education department as ‘discriminatory’, the Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e- Rehber-e-Taleem Teachers (JKTReTT) on Tuesday said that such order must be implemented to every teacher irrespective of regular or distance mode degree holders.
The JKTReTT forum said that the government has issued an order regarding the test based promotion to the teachers who are distance mode degree holders and are working in the education department.
“Though the order is a welcoming step but at the same time it is discriminatory as it should be implemented to every teacher irrespective of regular or distance mode degree holders,” President of the forum, Javaid Iqbal said, while addressing a meeting under his president ship.
He said that the order is a welcoming step for their future and present generation as the test based promotions will improve the work culture and competitive sense among the teachers fraternity.
However, he said, “The order should not remain confined only to distance mode degree holders but all those teachers who are working in the department irrespective of regular or distance mode degree holders.”
Iqbal said that the order must not target only a particular teacher community but should involve all including the headmasters and teachers. “Before expecting any promotion, qualifying an ability test must be mandatory, which will improve the quality education among our new buds,” he said, adding that any step taken for the larger interests of the society will be appreciated.
