Srinagar, Feb 24 (KNS): NC patron and former Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah Friday took jibe at both Indian and Pakistani governments for ‘failing people of Kashmir’ and said the new recruits in militant ranks in the Valley have no fear of death as they are sacrificing their lives for ‘Kashmir’s freedom’.
Addressing a gathering during a function here at Nawa-e-Subh party headquarters, Dr Farooq said, “The youth joining militant ranks have no lust for power but are fighting for the freedom of nation. They are conveying a message that we are the real owners of our land (Kashmir).”
He said that new generation joining militant ranks has ‘no fear of death’. “The new nation has taken birth that doesn’t fear to die. The youth are leaving their homes with an aim to sacrifice their lives for freedom,” he added.
Taking a jibe on both the countries, India and Pakistan, Farooq said, “Both the countries have failed to fulfil the promises made to the people of Kashmir in 1948. We are not enemies of anyone and we appeal both the countries to do justice with us (Kashmiris),” he added.
Meanwhile, on the sidelines of the function, he said that the dialogue is the only way to resolve the Kashmir issue. “Gun cannot yield any result. Dialogue is the only way to resolve the issues.”
He said that the guns must stop to roar so that peace could return to Valley.
Reacting over the statements made by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in Uttar Pradesh (UP) election campaign, he said that as being PM of the country, he must not have spoken the language that can divide the people.
“It is unfortunate that the PM Modi is using the language that can divide the people rather he should have used the language that would connect the hearts of people,” he added. (KNS)
