SBM contractual employees without salary from last 4 years

Appeal CM, Edu min for intervention

Srinagar, Feb 16 (KNS): Contractual employees working in Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) have demanded immediate release of their salaries pending from the last four years.
A delegation of SBM employees told KNS that 6000 contractual employees are working under this centrally-sponsored flagship programme of school education department and Ministry of Human Resource Development of India. They said they have received only 14 month’s salary so far and are facing hardships to meet daily needs.
The aim of SBM is to provide basic education with special emphasis on functional literacy to those adults, especially to women folks, who have lost the options of education due to one or the other reason.
6000 SBM contractual employees, like district coordinators, block coordinators and preraks were engaged under this scheme Saakshar Bharat Mission on contractual basis as per advertisement norms issued by authorities.
“Since the appointment the authorities have released only 14 months honorarium. We approached the government and authorities from ZEO to commissioner secretary to school education for release of our wages but all in vain”.
“We appeal the Chief Minister and Education Minister to resolve our long pending issues on humanitarian grounds sooner,” they said. (KNS)
