Accused arrested, investigation started: SSP

Srinagar, Feb 02 (KNS): In a ghastly incident, a 25-year-old youth in Thathri area of Doda district, on Thursday stabbed his parents and a relative to death and injured several others, officials said.
The youth according to the officials was identified as Firdous Ahmad.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Vinay Kumar told KNS that the youth who has stabbed his parents to death is a mentally challenged person.
He said that family persons of Ahmad told police that he was under treatment for his mental illness.
“A Mentally challenged person namely Tousif @ Firdous (26 yrs), son of Ghulam Muhammad, resident of Thathri assaulted five persons including both parents and two tenants with an axe at Thathri this morning,” he said.
“Ghulam Muhammad, son of Lassa Mochi, resident of Thathri (80 yrs) father of accused died on spot, while his wife namely Sakina Begum (75 yrs) succumbed to her injuries on way to District Hospital Doda. Whereas, another injured, who happens to be their relative namely Bahar Din, son of Zaffarullah, resident of Thakrai Kishtwar (70 yrs) also succumbed to his injuries at District Hospital later,” SSP Doda added.
He said that the seriously injured tenants namely Rajesh Kumar (54 yrs) and his son Pujari Lal (22 yrs), resident of Jalandhar have been referred to GMC Jammu by the doctors of Doda Hospital. “Their condition is stated to be out of danger. The accused has been arrested by Police and weapon of offence seized. In this regard, a case FIR No.09/2017 U/S 302/307 RPC stand registered at P/S Thathri,” Kumar told KNS.
Kumar also visited the spot to take the stock of situation and passed necessary directions to Police on the spot.
SSP Doda constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by a Dy SP to investigate the case on its merits. (KNS)
