Forgetting Gaw Kadal Massacre in protest calendar ‘sinister plot’: Hilal War

Seeks apology from joint leadership to public

Srinagar, Jan 17 (KNS): Stating that forgetting Gaw Kadal Massacre in the recently issued protest calendar is ‘a sinister plot’, the senior Hurriyat (M) leader and People’s Political Party chief, Hilal War, on Tuesday asked the resistance leadership to seek apology from people.
“If the joint resistance leadership including Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation front (JKLF) Chief, Muhammad Yasin Malik have deliberately ignored the Gaw Kadal Massacre in their joint protest calendar, then it is sinister plot or in case it was done by mistake then they are incompetent,” War told reporters while addressing a presser at his Maisuma residence.
Admitting that there are some ‘fishes’ among the leadership, War said, “The leadership must have been called for no relaxation on Jan 21 but unfortunately they have forgotten the sacrifices of lives rendered by 52 people and injuries of 250 Kashmiri.”
Asking the joint leadership to seek apology from the people and victims who sacrificed their lives and sustained injuries on Jan 21 at Gaw kadal, War according to KNS correspondent, said, “It is really surprised that the leadership didn’t announce strike on this day. How can the leadership forget the sacrifices given by people? I believe that the sacrifices rendered by 52 Kashmiris on the particular day boosted to freedom struggle in Kashmir. The leadership must seek apology from the public as it might have hurt their sentiments.”
Suggesting that the leadership must revisit their protest calendar and must call for a strike on this day, War said, “In case, the leadership will not call for a strike on Jan 21, we appeal to the people of civil lines area particularly tradesmen to observe complete shutdown like previous years in entire civil lines area including Gaw Kadal, Maisuma, Lal Chowk, Budshah Chowk, Court Road and other adjoining areas on Jan 21, to mark the 27th martyrdom anniversary of Gaw Kadal martyrs.”
Terming the Gaw kadal Massacre as ‘Jallianwala Bagh of Kashmir’, PPP chief said, “Earlier, the then Governor, Jagmohan had threatened people that if anybody creates law and order problem, ‘Meray hathon say Aman ka patta Khisak jaye Ga’ (the cards of peace I am carrying will slip away from my hands) and in less than 24-hours, the threat was carried out in a brutal manner.”
He said, “The conspiracy of this massacre and Kashmiri Pandits exodus was hatched by the then Governor, Jagmohan in collaboration with the then Home Minister, Late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.”
War later appealed International Human Rights Organization to set up an International Independent Tribunal to probe the Gaw Kadal massacre so that the conspirators and perpetrators of this crime will be unmasked and punished under International humanitarian Law.
War also warned the Government of India to face the ground realities and understand that no peace is possible unless the burning Kashmir issue is resolved. (KNS)
