Srinagar, Jan 15 (KNS): Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani in his appeal on Sunday asked to maintain brotherhood and harmony, saying that some elements and agencies are hell-bent to tarnish the fabric of unanimity and harmony among various sects in state.
In a statement issued to KNS, Geelani said that few agencies are trying their hard to flare tensions between various communities and sects.
“We need to keep close vigil over these agencies,” said Geelani, adding that “we will take every measure and possible step to make their sinister designs a failure.”
He said that recent people’s uprising has conveyed a strong message to oppressors and their henchmen in state and now they in a bid to avenge people and divert our attentions are trying hard to provoke people against each another.
“We are one and follow same faith and one religion,” said Geelani and expressed his strong resentment over some incidents in city Srinagar.
“We are followers of Prophet Muhammad (?), and believe in basics of Islam and teachings of Holly Quran,” said Geelani, adding that “Being a part of Muslim Ummah, we are obliged to live in peace and harmony and respect the faith and rules laid by different school of thought.”
He said that some miscreants are desperate to stoke sectarian and communal tension in state. “We follow Islam and hence little or minor difference are not a matter of concern as it is indication of rational thinking,” said pro- freedom leader and stressed to keep fabric of mutual brotherhood active and compact.
Declaring whole Muslim Ummah as ‘a single body’, Geelani said, “if a part of a body is upset or wounded, the whole body feels pain and similarly though we differ in some rituals but as a Muslim Ummah we are a single unit and members of same build.”
Denouncing the acts of these forces, Hurriyat (G) chairman said that since last few months and during the present Intifada movement people from all shades and corners exhibited unity and conveyed a message that they are one and this has all-out made these elements disgusting and frustrated those oppressive forces and thus are stoking sectarian tension to fulfill their ulterior motives.
He said, “We are unified and people are watchful and won’t allow any such move aimed at to tarnish the brotherhood between various sects and communities. They have activated their stooges and agents to derail movement and we need to keep vigil as we have nourished freedom movement with sacred blood of our youth.”
He in his appeal to resistance leaders and activists, and urged to keep a close vigil over the situation and remain in close contact with responsible and dignitaries of both sects of Sunnis and Shia community.
Hurriyat (G) chairman in his statement expressed hope that people won’t allow these elements to disturb peace and brotherhood among various communities and fight them at all levels. (KNS)
