Srinagar, Nov 28 (KNS): After two consecutive days of relaxation in shutdown calendar, the Valley observed complete shutdown on Monday.
All the shops, educational institutes, petrol pumps and other business establishments remained closed throughout the day.
However, the brisk movement of vehicles was witnessed in Srinagar areas including the commercial hub Lal Chowk, Rambagh, Jawahar Nagar, Batamaloo and other adjacent areas.
Besides transport, street vendors had also installed their stock on the roadsides here and were seen buying essential commodities and winter collections like sweeter, Jacket, Thermal wears, blankets and other things.
Meanwhile, the markets across the Valley remained closed throughout the day.
Pertinently, the Valley is witnessing uprising since July 8 of this year that triggered following the killing of Hizb commander Burhan Wani in a gunfight at Bumdoora village of Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on July 8.
In nearly five months long uprising more than 90 people including two cops were killed while several thousands of people were maimed and blinded in the Valley.
On Saturday and Sunday, the separatist leadership had called for relaxation in shutdown. Following the relaxation call, the Valley witnessed huge rush of shoppers who thronged the Valley markets and were seen buying essential commodities.
Notably, hundreds of youth involved in stone pelting have also been arrested while some among them have been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) and were shifted to Kot Bolwal jail in Jammu. (KNS)
