Bandipora, Nov 22, CNS: After a night long cordon, government forces neutralized two young non-local militants in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Acting on specific information about the presence of some militants, the joint team of army’s 13 RR, CRPF and SOG cordoned Gorikhan area of Hajin on Monday night. After night long cordon when search operation was lunached, the hiding militants left the village and came in open firing on the government forces, police sources said.
During the encounter, two militants were killed whose identity was not ascertained. Police claimed to have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the encounter site. “Two notes of Rs 2000 and some other cash were also recovered from the site.”
Eyewitnesses told news agency CNS that shortly after the death of the two militants hundreds of people especially youth assembled in Hajin Chowk and staged pro freedom protests demanding the bodies of the slain militants.
“Large number of people assembled and staged a massive pro-freedom protest,” witnesses said. (CNS)
