Srinagar, Nov 22 (KNS): In a bid to provide relief to the Dalgate inhabitants who lost their shelter due to the massive blaze on Monday, the Valley’s prominent educational institute, Burn Hall School on Tuesday distributed essential commodities among the fire victims here.
According to KNS correspondent, Burn Hall School under the aegis of Catholic Social Service Society (CSSS) distributed essential commodities including blankets, warm cloths, bags of rice and pulses, cooking oil and other daily use items among the fire victims of Khalpora.
Notably, one person identified as Muhammad Ramzan, resident of Tral was burnt alive while 23 houses and an electronic shop were damaged in the massive fire that erupted in the area on Monday morning.
School Principal, Rev. Fr. Sebastian Negathungal told KNS that the most of their workers working for the CSSS have also lost their shelter due to the blaze and following the incident, they decided to provide some relief to the affected families here.
The fire victims told KNS that people from private institutions are visiting them and are providing assistance to them. “So far, the government seems to be in deep slumber as no official visited them to provide any kind of relief,” the fire victims said.
They appealed Chief Minister and other senior government officials to provide them immediate assistance so that they could raise their residential houses again. “We faced tremendous hardships since the incident occurred. We are living under open sky in such chilly days. Government must provide immediate assistance to us so that our sufferings will end soon,” they said. (KNS)
