Army organises ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ at Sumbal  

Baramulla, oct 20: Army on Thursday organised School Chalo Abhiyan to motivate the students to return back to schools.

Ina statement issued today, defence spokesperson   said the silent sufferers of the ongoing turmoil in the valley have been the school going children whose future is being adversely affected due to the closing down of educational institutions.

 

‘‘As a mark of defiance against the bandh calls, to spread   the importance of education and to inspire youth to rejoin schools, a unique initiative, “School Chalo Abhiyaan” was organized today   in which over 200 students and 10 teachers from various schools of Sumbal and its adjoining villages participated,’’ statment reads

 

The Army camp Sumbal also encouraged the participants by distributing books,   stationary and sports equipment to further boost the infrastructure of the schools.

Spokesperson said the Parents and elders were urged to send their children to schools so that they were not deprived of their basic right. The locals of the area besides the teachers and the parents of the children welcomed the efforts of the Army and unanimously agreed that peace is the only way forward for a brighter Kashmir.
