Srinagar | Oct 18 (PTK): The BJP workers and district level leaders today asked the party leadership to allocate a separate nomination quota of Special Police Officers (SPOs) for them so that they can also have some say in their respective areas.
A BJP leader from Pulwama said that the recent recruitment of SPOs didn’t benefit the BJP functionaries at all in the valley. According to them, its whole credit went to PDP leaders.
“The recruitments were done on the directions of MLAs. Since BJP has no MLA in Kashmir valley, the whole credit and benefit went to PDP MLAs,” he said.
Quoting an incident, the BJP worker from Pulwama said he couldn’t even facilitate the selection of his son in the recent SPO recruitment drive. “How can I help other? It was all managed by local PDP MLA,” he said.
The BJP leaders and workers of all the 10 districts of the valley, who had assembled here at a party convention presided by state president Sat Sharma also demanded strong funding from the party sources so that they could create a parallel forum against the Hurriyat here.
“Give us strong funding so that we will run a parallel forum against Hurriyat here. We know how to control the youths and situation…”, they said.
The BJP workers also demanded that the Peoples Conference leader Sajad Gani Lone should be expelled from the cabinet and his berth be given to any BJP face like Sofi Yousuf in Kashmir. “We have alliance with Lone. But he is of no use or benefit to us. He doesn’t even know us. We have kept him in the cabinet on BJP quota for nothing,” they demanded. The BJP State President Sat Sharma listened to their demands and assured that he would put forth it to party high command. (PTK)
