Srinagar | Aug 22 (PTK): After Prime Minister Narendra Modi met J&K Opposition party leaders, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) later today issued a statement quoting Modi saying “we need to find a permanent and lasting solution to the problem within the framework of the Constitution”.

He also said all political parties must work together to find that solution.

However, the dialogue won’t include separatists; it will only take the mainstream Opposition parties on board, top sources in New Delhi told Press Trust of Kashmir.

“The government is willing to engage all mainstream stake holders to bring peace back to the Valley,” sources confirmed.

The PM’s statement has come amid a strong demand from opposition parties for dialogue to break the pro-freedom mass uprising in Kashmir that has left almost 70 people dead and around 6,000 injured.

It has been said that dialogue will not include separatists, who the PMO believes are behind the unrest in the Kashmir Valley since July 8, when Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani was killed.

On Saturday, the opposition parties led by former CM Omar Abdullah had backed the Army’s call for dialogue among all stakeholders in Kashmir. Omar expressed disappointment that the government had not brought up talks. (PTK)
