Srinagar, May 27 (KNS): National Conference Working president and former chief minister Friday attacked CM Mehbooba Mufti in the Legislative Assembly and reminded her of seeking votes from people to keep BJP away and then forming the government with the party.
Omar, who attended the third day of the Budget Session today, took potshot on Mehbooba Mufti for delaying the government formation with BJP for two months after ex-CM Mufti Muhammad Sayeed’s death.
“You demanded Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) from BJP as a condition to re-enter in the alliance with them. But after two-month delay, and raising hopes of the people, you got nothing and agreed to work on the same salary and took the chair of CM. Where are the CBMs?” Omar asked to Mehbooba in the LA.
“If you wanted blessing from Prime Minister, as Ram Madhav said, then why did you wait for two months for these blessings,” he said.
Omar was speaking today in Lower House during discussion on the Motion of Thanks on Governor N N Vohra’s address on first day of the ongoing Budget Session.
The NC leader said that the present government has no direction and vision to work for the progress and development of the state.
While mention the Governor’s address, Omar said that since the government has nothing new to offer to the people, “so the Governor’s address had no new things in it”.
On NFSA, Omar asked the government that when you launched new scheme in the name of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and promised the people that additional ration will be bought for the people, then “why are you praising the Food Act”.
On speaking about the controversial issues of Sainik colonies, industrial policy and separate townships for Kashmir Pandit migrants, Omar said that the government has created ambiguity about the issues.
“Being the chief minister of the state, Mehbooba ji, you should have spoken on these issues to clear the confusion. But you are hiding behind your spokesperson. We don’t hear anything from you about these issues,” he said, referring to the chief minister.
“We don’t need Jagti-like ghettos and cantonment-like townships for migrants. When the migrants will live under security behind the walled colonies, then what is the fun of bringing migrants back,” he said.
The NC leader in his 43 minute speech talked about lack of development, bad condition of roads, Handwara killings, NEET, NIT issue, no IIT, AIIMS and smart cities for the state, recent threatening remark of forest minister Lal Singh to a Gujjar delegation in Jammu and Agenda of Alliance, and Indo-Pak dialogue.
On the Handwara killings, Omar said that there is no clarity on who is right and who is wrong. “Video of the girl was released that has made the life of the girl vulnerable. Either the police is wrong or the girl is wrong. Lot of confusion is happening in the whole incident. But still you are silent,” he said.
Omar asked the chief minister to “control the forces who want to divide the state” while referring to “threatening” remarks of Lal Singh to the Gujjar delegation. (KNS)
