Srinagar, May 19, CNS: Commenting over the India’s ‘draft bill that imposes fine and imprisonment for not showing Kashmir as part of its map’, Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani said that Jammu & Kashmir is not the personal property of any body. “This state belongs to the people of this land and they only are authorized to decide the future of this state. Mentioning Jammu & Kashmir as part of India on the pieces of paper will not change the reality and nor can be the thinking and aspirations of Kashmiri people changed in this way.”
He said that the disputed nature of Jammu & Kashmir has been acknowledged at the international level and with the help of “Geo Special Information Regulation Bill” like self structured ways; India can’t change the disputed status of Kashmir. Kashmiris had resisted the forced occupation of India in the past and they will continue their struggle against the Indian oppression.
In a statement to CNS, Geelani said that India since 1947 is making laws and plans to justify its illegal and forced occupation on Jammu & Kashmir but these tactics failed to change the ground situation here. The freedom sentiments of Kashmiri people have grown stronger with each passing day and they haven’t surrendered before the naked oppression of India.
Geelani advised the rulers and policy makers of India that instead of daydreaming about Kashmir, they should prepare themselves to accept and absorb the reality and truth in this regard. “The traditional policies of India regarding to Kashmir had failed in every way. It is better for them to fulfill their promises and let the Kashmiris to decide their future so that the money spent by India over its huge military expenditure will be used for feeding the millions of poor and shelter less people of this country.
