Srinagar, May 11, CNS: Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and MLA Khansahib Hakim Muhammad Yaseen Wednesday said that bringing the admission for Medical and Dental Colleges of Jammu Kashmir under the ambit of NEET is another step to erode the special status of J&K.
Hakim Yasin told CNS that the post of Prime Minister was replaced by Chief Minister in past. “The move at that time was justified with the argument that it would not harm the special status of J&K. What happened after that is evident to everyone,” he said in a statement issued here.
“Bringing Medical and Dental Colleges of Jammu Kashmir under the ambit of NEET is not only injustice toward local students but also a ploy to weaken the state’s control over these educational institutions thus affecting the rights of the people of Jammu Kashmir to run their professional education institutions,” he added.
He said that as per the constitution of J&K, the state is having its own election commission to conduct all kinds of polls in the state. “Earlier, the Supreme Court directions were not bound in J&K under the provisions of state laws. Instead of restoring the democratic intuitions, posts and other organizations under the J&K constitution, the present regime is acting as facilitator of union government to erode the Article 370 further,” he said.
He has urged government to come clean on the matter and respect public sentiment. (CNS)
