Srinagar, May 11, CNS: Jammu Kashmir High Court Wednesday quashed the detention of Palhalan youth under Public Safety Act and directed police to release him from Udhampur Jail.
Advocate Bashir Ahmad Tak informed CNS that Police had Muhammad Ashraf Mir son of Abdul Khaliq of Tantraypora Palhalan Pattan, on charges of stone pelting and provoking youth for stone pelting on 3 December 2015.
He said that he had been booked by Pattan Police under an FIR vide number 92/2015 under section 147, 148, 149, 307, 336, 341, 427 RPC. Detention order vide number 04/DMB/PSA was passed on 15 February 2015.
Justice Muzaffar Hussain Atthar quashed his detention under PSA and directed police to release him. (CNS)
