Srinagar | May 1 (PTK): Senior Hurriyat leader and Jammu Kashmir Peoples League Chairman, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza on Sunday termed the settlement of non-locals in Kashmir a sinister design of Indian government to change the demography of state.
Waza in a statement said that such policies are being framed to convert the Muslim majority state into a Hindu state just to strength its illegal occupation. “However Kashmiris who are sacrifying their lives will fight such police tooth and nail.”
He said the government’s decision to construct shelters for the non-locals in Kashmir is “another conspiracy to reduce the Muslim Majority character of the state into a minority”.
Waza said that such policies are being formulated to affect and endanger the ongoing freedom struggle of the people of Kashmir and their demand of right to self-determination. He termed the decision as “part of the same sinister design propounded and propagated by Hindu RSS-BJP communalists to settle the non-state subject army personnel in colonies in and around Srinagar. Waza said that idea of constructing shelter homes or separate colonies will be resisted at all costs. He also asked Kashmiri Pandits to uphold the centuries-old communal harmony and shared culture and live along their Muslim brethren. On the occasion Labor Day, the Hurriyat leader said that the incidents like May Day in which demonstrators fell to the bullets in Chicago in 1886 were being witnessed every day in Kashmir. He said that the people of Kashmir had lost faith in the judicial institutions, because the violators of human rights were roaming freely and enjoying the patronage of the authorities. “The world should become aware and conscious about the emotions and aspirations of Kashmiri masses. Human rights defenders after getting acquainted with the ground realities can become representatives and communicate to the masses of their respective places about the real situation prevailing in Kashmir,” he added.
