13 years on, Pulwama residents await revenue settlement records

‘Will take up the issue with DC: Bukhari

Srinagar, April 29 (KNS): For the last 13 years, the district administration in Pulwama has failed to approve revenue records of a village despite land settlement having been done by the lower officials many years ago.

The residents of Ratnipora village in Pulwama district blamed the negligent approach of the administration concerned for delaying the approval of the revenue records.

The residents said due to the long delay the revenue records of their land are not available at their Patwari Khana.

For inquiries and other required information, the residents said they have to travel more than 40 kilometers to Anantnag district.

“For the last 13 years, the successive Assistant Revenue Commissioners in the district are delaying the approval of the revenue records. Hence we have to travel Anantnag Revenue sub office, which is more than 40 kms away in another district,’’ the residents told KNS.

“We have told the ACRs that if they doubt the settlement they can order for new settlement or review of the settlement of the land records that have been approved by the Patwari, Girdawar and the Tehsildar concerned. But the ACRs only delay the approval till they are transferred,” the residents said, expressing anger against the administration.

Minister for Revenue Syed Basharat Bukhari told KNS that he will take the issue with the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama over the delay of the approval.

“I will take the issue with the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama. The residents should visit DC’s office on Monday and then inform me about the action that the concerned official will be taking in the issue,” Bukhari told KNS. (KNS)
