RBI Dy Gov stresses on adopting digital technology for better banking services
Srinagar| Apr 26 (PTK): The Bankers Club J&K Tuesday organized a day-long conference ‘BANCLAVE-e-financial inclusion-way forward’ at SKICC here.
Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Mr. H.R Khan attended the conference as chief guest, while as Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad, President Bankers Club J&K, Mr. Sethi besides senior officers of RBI and various banks were present on the occasion.
The BANCLAVE which was aimed at raising and discussing issues pertaining to the banking services besides suggesting solutions to the issues of common interest particularly to people having poor economic conditions.
Addressing the gathering, the RBI Deputy Governor said such BANCLAVEs work to promote mutual understanding and fellowship among the banking fraternity besides encouraging spirit of common endeavour in matters of common people. He said such BANCLAVEs serve to boost and revitalize banking services for the benefit of target groups.
The Deputy Governor also stressed on need to viable and sustainable financial institutions by adopting digital technology. He also underscored the need to take appropriate measures to ensure safe and secure banking services. He also sought covering economy boosting sectors including Horticulture, Agriculture and other allied areas with focused attention to uplift the overall economy of State.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman J&K Bank hoped that programme would prove beneficial for the participants and fruitful results would be seen on ground by benefitting target groups. He said several land mark initiatives have been undertaken by the government by launching new banking schemes during last two years to uplift the economic conditions of the people. He said that such initiatives will also push up the purchasing power of people having low income.
He also urged for providing respectable space to the target groups and stressed on financial inclusion, social inclusion and digital inclusion.
Earlier, President Bankers club J&K in his welcome address said Bankers are real partners of development and progress of country and Bankers club is putting sincere efforts to address the problems being faced by the business community and common people engaged in different sectors of state economy through its mutual interactive efforts. He said Bankers Club, J&K is aimed to achieve cent percent financial inclusion and e-governance in the State.
During the conference various technical sessions were also held to acquaint participants with new technological trends. (PTK)
