Kashmir isn’t mini India, It is an internationally accepted disputed region: Geelani

Srinagar | Apr 20 (PTK): Referring to the speech of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi wherein he called Kashmir ‘Mini India’ Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani today said Kashmir is an international dispute and separate entity altogether, where people have been enslaved at the barrel of gun only.

Geelani said, “His  (Modi’s) slogan of ‘insaaniyat’ (humanity), ‘jumhooriyat’ (democracy) and ‘Kashmiriyat’ (composite Kashmir culture) is just a lip service as Kashmiris were brutally killed, women sexually assaulted, properties worth billions looted and torched and thousands of youth were subjected to forced disappearance by the Indian forces. So the meaning of such slogans carries no weight when it comes to Kashmir,” Geelani said in a statement.

He said the voice and rights of the people of Jammu Kashmir cannot be muzzled and suppressed and that people would strive to fight for their rights till the issue is resolved in accordance with their aspirations.

“J&K has a century old traditions of brotherhood between different religions but in spite of that calling Kashmir a mini- India stands invalid and absurd as far as the history of Kashmir is concerned,” Geelani added

He said the way govt provided patronage to the social evils like alcohol, drugs and waywardness under the garb of Kashmiriyat is a deep rooted conspiracy to make identity crisis in valley. (PTK)
