Srinagar | Apr 6 : Fresh trouble has hit the prestigious NIT Srinagar again as protesting students tried to barge out of the campus leading to a confrontation with the deployed forces.
A group of non-Kashmiri engineering students continued the protests march inside the campus thus disrupting the normal class work. The non-local students alleged that J&K police used brute force and seized the national flag from them which they were carrying on Tuesday during the protest.
They accused the policemen of barging into hostels and beating up students during the night.
With situation continuing to remain fragile, a three-member team of union HRD ministry has rushed to NIT to discuss the situation and solve the issue before it moves out of the hands.
The protesting non-local students want a permanent CRPF camp at the main gate. They want there should be no deployment of J&K police around or inside the campus.
The situation at NIT is also a testing time for new chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and it will be very interesting to see how she handles the situation.
